Gabriola Community Exchange and/or Gabriola Exchange are interchangeable names referring to the same Exchange Service; a moderated online community service for Gabriola.
What are Gabriola Communty Exchange moderation guidelines?
Before posting ads to the Gabriola Community Exchange, please be aware of our moderation guidelines. Your ad won’t be approved for delivery if:
* It wasn’t specifically local to the Gabriola Island community
* Your listing contains profanity, aggressive language or is argumentative in nature
* Your listing makes unverified and/or inappropriate accusations about a person or organization
* You or someone else has posted similar items repeatedly
* Your listing is commercial in nature and in the wrong category.
* Your listing is intended to drive traffic to other online services or social media sites
* Your listing is designed to drive traffic to contests or promotions
* Your listing is directing our members to join other lists or similar services
* Your listing contains content considered not suitable for all ages
* Your listing is for the sale or purchase of ammunition, weapons or firearms
Gabriola Exchange is a community service, however access is not guaranteed. Moderators may restrict listings or ads at their discretion.
How do I register with the Gabriola Community Exchange?
In the upper right corner of the click the ‘Register” button. Enter your First name, Last name, a username that you would like to use and your email address. A random password has been generated; you can keep this or choose your own. Click the Captcha and then the Create Account button. You can then use that user name and password to log-in to the Gabriola Exchange. Cookies must be enabled in your browser for registration and log-in to work.
Below the Login form, click ‘Lost yourpassword?’. Enter the username or email address you used to register with the Gabriola Exchange. Click the ‘Reset Password’ button. A new password will be instantly emailed to the address on file. You can accept this password or enter a new one of your choice and then click the Reset Password button.
How do I post an Ad on the Gabriola Community Exchange?
You must be registered on the Gabriola Exchange site to be able to post Ads. Once you have registered, click the ‘Post an Ad’ button which is visible on any page on the Gabriola Exchange. This will open a form with listing details which you need to fill out. If you have not previously registered you will be given the opportunity to do so now. Ads are reviewed to ensure they meet the moderation guidelines; those which do not meet the moderation guidelines are discarded.
How do I enquire about a listing on the Gabriola Exchange?
You respond to listings by filling out the ‘Contact’ form on the right hand side of each posting as it appears on the Gabriola Community Exchange website.
How do I edit or cancel a listing on the Gabriola Exchange after it has been posted?
You need to be logged in to edit postings. If you have done this, then you will see a link on the top right of the Gabriola Exchange page called ‘My Dashboard‘. Click on this link and you will see a list of your postings. You will see a legend beside each of your listings on the Gabriola Exchange. To edit your listing, click on the pencil button, this will open your listing so you can edit the text and images. If you want to take your listing offline because an item is sold, or the listing is no longer active, simply click on the pause button and this will take it offline. Clicking on the Pause button removes it from public view. If you want to tell people your item is sold, but you don’t want to remove it from public view, click on the Mark Sold button. This will place text in your listing indicating that the item has been sold.
How do I renew my ad once it has expired?
When your ad has expired, simply renew it by resubmitting your ad.
How do I edit my profile or change my password on the Exchange?
You need to have registered and be logged in to change your profile or password. Click the ‘My Dashboard‘ link and then in the right margin under Dashboard click the link called ‘My Profile‘. After making your changes scroll to the bottom of the page and click Update Profile.
What types of photographs can I attach?
Attach up to 3 photos in .jpg, .gif and .png formats that are less than 1 MB in size.
Can I attach files other than photographs?
At this time you can attach only .jpg, .png and .gif format files to listings on the Exchange.
Can I add photographs to my listing after it has been posted?
Yes, a photo can be removed or added after approval by editing the listing in your dashboard.
How long does a Feature Ad run for in the rotating banner?
All feature ads will show in the rotating banner for seven days from the date of listing. Feature ads are shown in rotation throughout the day along with other feature ads.
How do I contact the moderators if I have additional questions?
If one of your questions is not answered here you can contact the Gabriola Exchange moderators by filling out the Contact Us form. If you are asking a question that we have answered here, regrettably we will not be able to respond to your email. We are unable to offer technical support of any kind;
How do I renew my ad once it has expired?
To renew your ad, Login to the Gabriola Exchange, click ‘Post an Ad’ and re-submit the ad.
